Beating the Odds Foundation hosted a Beating the Odds experience at the Fort Pitt Museum, Pittsburgh, PA.
31 students, grade levels fourth through high school, participated in a motivational and memorable experience where learning was brought to life.
Prior to the event, students performed research on the life of Quarterback of Life® Eric McElvenny. Through the project-based experiential learning opportunity, students set personal goals using the Beating the Odds Foundation’s Stepping Stones to Success.
Eric McElvenny, United States Marine Captain (retired) and US Paralympic Athlete spoke to the students about his own beating the odds story. Eric deployed three times as a Marine. On his final tour in Afghanistan, Eric was wounded after stepping on an IED and suffered the amputation of his right leg below the knee.
This was a meaningful occasion for these students to honor and celebrate all Veterans who have served in the United States Armed Forces.
