Beating the Odds Foundation hosted a virtual assembly with Medina Public School District 3 in North Dakota, featuring Dr. Charity Woodrum, a NASA astrophysicist.
Charity spoke to 32 seventh and eighth-grade students, sharing her inspiring journey of overcoming poverty and tragedy while pursuing her dream of becoming an astrophysicist.
After facing immense loss, Charity rebuilt her life and reignited her dream with the support of childhood friends, mentors, and even complete strangers.
Following her presentation, students participated in a Q&A session. One aspiring pilot asked Charity—who also holds a private pilot certificate—about the steps needed to achieve that dream.
Her remarkable story is the subject of Space, Hope and Charity, an award-winning documentary.
