QBOL Assembly with Rocky Bleier at Mapletown Jr/Sr High School
Beating the Odds Foundation presented a Quarterbacks of Life® assembly for two hundred eighty-nine (289) 7th –12th-grade students at Mapletown Jr/Sr High School.
Rocky Bleier, four-time Super Bowl champion, who serves as Beating the Odds Foundation’s Co-Chair and Quarterback of Life®; and Rocco Scalzi, Founder and President of Beating the Odds Foundation spoke to the students about their own personal stories of overcoming adversity and how to apply the Stepping Stones to Success (motivational tools) to achieve their dreams. Students introduced Rocky through a creative and impressive way using a skit.
This is the first year that these students will be participating in the Quarterbacks of Life® Student Success and Leadership Program. A Quarterbacks of Life student leadership team will be created. The program is under the guidance of Principal Jason Pappas, teachers Jennifer George and Adrienne McCreary. The program is made possible through Greene County Drug & Alcohol, Baily Insurance Agency, Peoples Natural Gas, and Walmart.
“My impression of the presentation is that it was awesome. Having a 4 time Super Bowl Champion coming to our school and telling us his story was phenomenal. Rocky Bleier also being a former Steelers football player makes it even greater. His story showed me how determined he was and how much pride he has for himself. Rocky Bleier’s story is one of the most inspirational things I’ve ever heard. Before the presentation, I didn’t know much about his story, but after I was in shock. He is someone that kids can look up to because most people would’ve just tried accepting faith and gave up, but not Rocky. It’s something that I’ll remember for the rest of my life and something that I will share with my kids someday. Rocky Bleier’s story should be remembered until the end of time.”
