Year 4 of ALS initiative continues

Rocco Scalzi and Rocky Bleier joined students at Great Valley High School, Malvern, PA via videoconference. This year, sixty students in the Honors Biology 2 course are participating in this very unique opportunity. This is the 4th year the Beating the Odds Foundation has partnered with the University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute to offer this collaboration to high school students and teachers.
Teachers and ALS specialists, representing a broad range of careers, work together to help students better understand and experience how the UPMC Brain Institute focuses on success in its challenge to learn more about ALS, improve care for ALS patients, find a cure for this neuromuscular disease, and perhaps one day prevent its occurrence.
“The students continue to be so pleased that we offer this- something beyond the academics,” Kathleen Crisi, biology teacher, Great Valley High School.
